<section id="H555BC0C0066A4728959A78D961C7B25B" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>U.S.-Taiwan Defense Innovation Partnership Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="H23805A8AA0AB4F8B94CA7D1CBFFF8453"><enum>2.</enum><header>Strategic partnership on defense industrial priorities between the United States and Taiwan</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Secretary of Defense shall seek to establish a partnership between the Department of Defense and appropriate counterparts of Taiwan in order to—</text> 
<paragraph id="H8E47418A23664D08BE295D5BA7504836"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">enhance market opportunities for United States-based and Taiwan-based defense technology companies;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H62B97EC62F1A46AAA581DE055C439C60"><enum>(2)</enum><text>bolster Taiwan’s defense industrial base;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H6FE1F25F22AD420CA1ED469B6FBF4637"><enum>(3)</enum><text>harmonize global security posture through emerging technology;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HD12D15F9835E4981BC036196870415D1"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">counter the Chinese Communist Party and Chinese Communist Party-aligned adversarial proxy group development of dual-use defense technologies; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H7DCB55C8DBF54A5BA8A0486E3B392727"><enum>(5)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in coordination with appropriate counterpart offices of the Taiwan Ministry of National Defense—</text> <subparagraph id="H358160ECCA2A40AB8600D779D1DB8BA1"><enum>(A)</enum><text>enable coordination on defense industrial priorities;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H4C108CCA6E5A4D36B2A7B2928ADE0507"><enum>(B)</enum><text>streamline emerging defense technology research and development;</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="H183146DD9907472C8C66EE6FD6E1D394"><enum>(C)</enum><text>create more pathways to market for defense technology startups; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H33350DE5339548A98EF7207D3AED8DF4"><enum>(D)</enum><text>collaborate on the coordinated development of dual-use defense capabilities, such as the following:</text> <clause id="HA6DB584876DB48329F1D3040492E0A78"><enum>(i)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Drones.</text></clause> 
<clause id="HC12B942FBB2B4059B8A38C8181CE939D"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>Microchips.</text></clause> <clause id="HA972DA1836AF4BF8B69BB6F784DEEA55"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>Directed energy weapons.</text></clause> 
<clause id="H7FD7C091741440F8A88DAA5C28B89AC3"><enum>(iv)</enum><text>Artificial Intelligence.</text></clause> <clause id="H731636A0977D4AA0AFE47C741B320B00"><enum>(v)</enum><text>Missile technology.</text></clause>
