<section id="HB1E66A1C57F648FDAD76FE0F69369083" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Renewing Immigration Provisions of the Immigration Act of 1929</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="HC3C4D617E94343CA9CCC0B585DED4CED"><enum>2.</enum><header>Registry</header> <subsection id="H78CC6E8306E147959CD337333678D255"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Section 249 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1259">8 U.S.C. 1259</external-xref>) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H48EEFB7FFDDB42099551E190C38EE359"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in the section header, by striking <quote><header-in-text level="section" style="USC">entered the United States prior to January 1, 1972</header-in-text></quote> and inserting <quote><header-in-text level="section" style="USC">are long-term residents of the United States</header-in-text></quote>; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HEAD1D741B7F748B2A877C2E46C37F4F2"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by amending subsection (a) to read as follows:</text>

<paragraph id="H303A4C820B97416CB095E04D2221C35A" indent="down1"><enum>(a)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">entered the United States at least 7 years before the application date;</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="H7FA8B3B901A5469CBAD271D58D8F5D69"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendments made by this section shall take effect 60 days after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection></section>
