<section id="HC8112DB117FB4992863842C628B9FEE3" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Jobs in the Woods Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="HCF4D7EBF04DF44D7A182E01DB4D16CC4"><enum>2.</enum><header>Forestry workforce development grants</header> <subsection id="HDF80C95A586B410CAF81CB2D173A034E"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Establishment</header> <paragraph id="H176FCBF992B7462D8A586D50AFBCCD62"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 1 year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall establish a competitive grant program to make grants to eligible entities to carry out career pathway training programs in eligible areas in accordance with subsection (c).</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HC97BD35D9FD2402799A2D8E6E3214ED5"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Term; amount</header><text>A grant made under this section shall be—</text> <subparagraph id="H2A2E3A8976B941928C62F6A3F9F7A66E"><enum>(A)</enum><text>for a period of not greater than 4 years; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HA43D236875004AC8BA830381E910CBEA"><enum>(B)</enum><text>made in an amount—</text> <clause id="H640BEF8C1EEF4F1BA90B9EC92313EEBA"><enum>(i)</enum><text>greater than or equal to $500,000; and</text></clause> 
<clause id="HA2D9BD54D53B454B8CCBF60B550C030E"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>less than or equal to $2,000,000.</text></clause></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="H4F4994C779D64B0FAAE3AB7B4AEA9DB7"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Applications</header> <paragraph id="H622C28E13D5B4544A08B6C0FDD079ED4"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>To be eligible to receive a grant under this section, an eligible entity shall submit to the Secretary an application at such time, in such manner, and containing such information as the Secretary may require, which shall include—</text> 
<subparagraph id="HD99CC3D5D41040BA9FD88637255AFE54"><enum>(A)</enum><text>a demonstrated capacity to carry out a career pathway training program in accordance with subsection (c);</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="HEF8038995C824966AD0D6BABA2B71B0D"><enum>(B)</enum><text>a demonstration of need for such program within a region;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H7EC2048DD96E4FE3B40BE77DB2E45CDB"><enum>(C)</enum><text>a projection of the extent of reach intended for such program;</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="H46BB585A7DFB43AB933530DA98494438"><enum>(D)</enum><text>a plan to ensure that such program is sustainable; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H37E7DB096349421FB4CDC2D64DD94833"><enum>(E)</enum><text>a plan for the implementation of such program.</text></subparagraph></paragraph> <paragraph id="HBDFA4765118347EE986569A60FA72C58"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Priority</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In awarding grants under this section, the Secretary shall give priority to eligible entities that—</text> 
<subparagraph id="HFCB0D83998414DE680B71F3156C7E074"><enum>(A)</enum><text>propose to carry out activities to address the issues of an aging workforce and youth migration;</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="HAABC78E4A2D449C5BB8CF5AE1CCEC823"><enum>(B)</enum><text>to engage students, intends to partner with—</text> 
<clause id="H00EC80A423004DB28595B63CB264D4B4"><enum>(i)</enum><text>a secondary school;</text></clause> <clause id="H714EF9181F1241AA92B6BE3EE5D28ABD"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>a vocational or technical school; or</text></clause> 
<clause id="HB7387CFC261A4E95A3C8A9F3C7478DB0"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>a junior or community college; and</text></clause></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="H58D9251DC0B546F9A0EDA9DB66F52028"><enum>(C)</enum><text>demonstrate the ability to assist with forestry workforce placement and hiring.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="HD3F1420D68A840859AE4F4A6D5843DE2"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Use of funds</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">An eligible entity that receives a grant under this section shall use the grant funds to carry out career pathway training programs with respect to forestry operations and forestry products industries.</text></subsection> <subsection id="H5285B8D6D79F44C7929EC8BE1E11BB0F"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section:</text> 
<paragraph id="HB2A6B27125F84F2D954313A8C7B6675D"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Career pathway</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>career pathway</term> has the meaning given the term in section 3 of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/3102">29 U.S.C. 3102</external-xref>).</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HBB1B9A3A074248ACBDB58489C2B58CDA"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Eligible area</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>eligible area</term> means—</text> 
<subparagraph id="HD1E03051E1B3404993470F394F2B032D"><enum>(A)</enum><text>a nonmetropolitan area that qualifies as a low-income community (as defined in <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/26/45D">section 45D(e)</external-xref> of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986);</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="HE70B5DBDE10048DF8701C757A3069312"><enum>(B)</enum><text>an area that has access to or has a plan to achieve broadband service (as defined in section 601 of the Rural Electrification Act of 1936 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/950bb">7 U.S.C. 950bb</external-xref>)); and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H165E49FB6F4F42869ED2C19E9E315221"><enum>(C)</enum><text>an area that has a population of 50,000 or fewer inhabitants.</text></subparagraph></paragraph> <paragraph id="H631EAF6537D94287AB397DE5C66E2FA6"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Eligible entity</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>eligible entity</term> means a nonprofit organization, a State, an Indian Tribe, a local government, or an institution of higher education.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H21453536BD864C7D9D8B4A5D6DEC6EEF"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Institution of higher education</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>institution of higher education</term> has the meaning given such term in section 101 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/1001">20 U.S.C. 1001</external-xref>).</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HEC3BA45C4FD94B9697F97CFFADE105CA"> <enum>(5)</enum> <header>Junior or community college</header> <text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>junior or community college</term> has the meaning given such term in section 312(f) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/1058">20 U.S.C. 1058(f)</external-xref>).</text>
                </paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H0DF9B985F3544C3FAD13388AF81CFC5E"><enum>(6)</enum><header>Secondary school</header><text>The term <term>secondary school</term> has the meaning given the term in section 8101 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/7801">20 U.S.C. 7801</external-xref>).</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H96BF13EFB13E47738F2EA655068AA124"><enum>(7)</enum><header>Secretary</header><text>The term <term>Secretary</term> means the Secretary of Agriculture.</text></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="HFF24446D16A64A5ABBB31B5C71703F3E"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Authorization of appropriations</header><text>There is authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section $10,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2026 through 2030.</text></subsection></section> </legis-body></bill>
