<section id="H1B89AA91BFC240E4B0804EA935BFC9A0" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Border Operations Service Medal Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="HD1072D2297934DE7A36D130F9242CE37" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Findings</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Congress finds the following:</text> 
<paragraph id="H83F822DA108542549B39DEDF8EF2E58E"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The President, by Executive Order in January 2025, authorized national security operations along the United States-Mexico border.</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HF33FDD2713214C04851B35E3363E9534"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Servicemembers and Federal personnel participated in extensive security, humanitarian, and enforcement efforts.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H60319CD419EF4AD28929C22662B2662B"><enum>(3)</enum><text>Recognizing their contributions with a distinct service medal is essential for honoring their dedication and commitment.</text></paragraph></section> <section id="H5EAEE49EE58B4E4C947435011C2D7919"><enum>3.</enum><header>Establishment of service medal</header> <subsection id="H849EA14735EB4444A58584724C0D0E95"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Establishment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">To reflect service and commitment during designated border security operations between January 1, 2025, and the conclusions of such operations, the Secretary of Defense, in consultation with the heads of military service branches, shall design and issue a <quote>Border Operations Service Medal</quote> (in this section referred to as the <quote>Medal</quote>) to—</text> 
<paragraph id="HC5919398446245339B6A4EACFC53AE38"><enum>(1)</enum><text>active-duty members of the Armed Forces, and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HC4E276C8DC434258B69D63338978D1DE"><enum>(2)</enum><text>members of the National Guard and Reserve,</text> </paragraph> <continuation-text continuation-text-level="subsection">who served in such operations.</continuation-text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H546921B2B1DF49BBBFCEB24155932FC9"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Authorization for wear</header><text>The Medal shall be authorized for wear according to military uniform regulations and Federal service recognition guidelines.</text></subsection> <subsection id="HF2ADEDAF03284E0BBC115FC9202D3D0A"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Implementation</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 60 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall issue regulations to carry out this section.</text> </subsection> </section>
