R. 374</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20250113">January 13, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="T000478">Ms. Tenney</sponsor> (for herself and <cosponsor name-id="B001291">Mr. Babin</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HAP00">Committee on Appropriations</committee-name>, and in addition to the Committee on <committee-name committee-id="HWM00">Ways and Means</committee-name>, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To rescind certain balances made available to the Internal Revenue Service and redirect them to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H42271A1D220942FEA972899558B7D889" style="OLC"><section id="HEA444409C8A142EA94D7B473BB3536D1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Diverting IRS Resources to the Exigent Crisis Today Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>DIRECT Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H758D6C1D75B14739914E2EA9115291AF"><enum>2.</enum><header>Rescission of certain balances made available to the Internal Revenue Service</header><subsection id="HFFB933D2AC714A8C9B4AE0DBF92CCC3A"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The unobligated balances of amounts appropriated or otherwise made available for enforcement activities of the Internal Revenue Service by section 10301(1)(A)(ii) of <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/117/169">Public Law 117–169</external-xref> (commonly known as the <quote>Inflation Reduction Act</quote>) as of the date of the enactment of this Act are rescinded.</text></subsection><subsection id="H89C82D5B9FB24060875F0B1A020217F4"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Redirection of funds to U.S. Customs and Border Protection</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">There is appropriated to U.S. Customs and Border Protection for the salaries and expenses of new agents and officers hired for the security of the southern border of the United States an amount equal to the amount rescinded pursuant to subsection (a).</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
