 Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title 38, United States Code, to authorize the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to furnish headstones and markers for certain veterans for whom urns were previously furnished when such veterans are interred with other eligible individuals, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H4D64F7447E55445C910318C3374DEFD1" style="OLC"><section id="HD74761921C8848BE9A69D12B5881E800" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Loved Ones Interment Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H1252600B9ACC4A4397F823EC4228BF1E"><enum>2.</enum><header>Department of Veterans Affairs headstones and markers for certain cremated veterans interred with other eligible individuals</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 2306(h)(2) of title 38, United States Code, is amended—</text><paragraph id="H05AC302ECB2F43749092C41F3C68A08A"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by redesignating subparagraphs (A) and (B) as clauses (i) and (ii), respectively;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HA75586F3E7F542B9A01F6894DD7A71A5"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking <quote>If the Secretary</quote> and inserting <quote>(A) Except as provided in subparagraph (B), if the Secretary</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H809F16EC7FE04DB2B20BE01848DE0D3B"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new subparagraph (B):</text><quoted-block style="USC" id="H7B9CC2A869634577A94FC2B0AD91C27B" display-inline="no-display-inline"><subparagraph id="H0D66E4A652074444ADC01D057D6F613A" indent="up2"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In the case of a deceased individual referred to in subsection (a) who is cremated and for whom an urn or commemorative plaque is furnished under paragraph (1), the Secretary may also furnish a headstone or marker for the individual if—</text><clause id="H4F41FFC325714932BA9623668191C052"><enum>(i)</enum><text>the individual is interred at the same burial site as another individual referred to in section 2402(a) of this title;</text></clause><clause id="H87C83F2EE55F48BBAB481644C646CC78"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>the headstone or marker furnished includes information about both such individuals; and</text></clause><clause id="HEEB6C185FAC84E6CAA93EE1D736AEF44"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>the inclusion of such information does not increase the cost of the headstone or marker beyond the maximum amount permitted under law.</text></clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
