<section id="HABEA8FB7519E432E9A3B4759A1841487" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Business Owners Protection Act of 2025</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HBBB82B1A79AB460CA02C28021C8C06D6"><enum>2.</enum><header>Termination of certain unused authorities of Securities and Exchange Commission</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 23 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/78w">15 U.S.C. 78w</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>

<subsection id="HCFD591D5891E4BA391245B3EC0B3E604"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Termination of certain unused authorities</header> 
<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H96831159D70747E482365607BACCDB30"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">With respect to authorities of the Commission that were established pursuant to the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/12/5301">12 U.S.C. 5301 et seq.</external-xref>), any such authority that provides discretion as to whether to establish a requirement for private entities, and for which the Commission had not issued a notice of proposed rulemaking under section 553 of title 5, United States Code, or a guidance document before January 1, 2025, is terminated upon the date of enactment of this subsection.</text></paragraph> <paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HE9F54215D9764D3190336A274ADDFEBE"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Inclusion of authorities</header><text>The reference in paragraph (1) to authorities established pursuant to the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/12/5301">12 U.S.C. 5301 et seq.</external-xref>) includes authorities established for the Commission through amendments made by such Act to this Act.</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="HA85A10FF3E0B43509070CF53A77266B8"><enum>(3)</enum><header>List of authorities</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this subsection, the Commission shall submit to Congress and publish a publicly available list of each authority that is terminated under paragraph (1).</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section> </legis-body></bill>
