<section id="H2BF641BDD55447A2B0E656C24034046B" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Astronaut Safe Temporary Ride Options Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>ASTRO Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="H477EEFD3D0BC4ECC9B6444926C1E8DDE"><enum>2.</enum><header>Transportation of astronauts returning from space</header> <subsection id="H820ABD9D60334B98984D2E66AC6D183A"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subsection (b) of section 1344 of title 31, United States Code, is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H7EDE7E19EE3448CA9FDF31C8A198560F"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (8), by striking <quote>and</quote> after the semicolon;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HB55C4ED2C6F946A8BCFE08522DC5C0B0"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (9), by striking the period and inserting <quote>; and</quote>; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HC1938BCACAA64958A656FAE58843B627"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text> <quoted-block style="USC" id="HCF47C5E57F874D44ABC39E874D1D536F" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <paragraph id="HB951799A4DF241F0BE8CE79A2602BAC9"><enum>(10)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">an officer or employee returning from space when transportation is necessary for the performance of medical research, monitoring, diagnosis, or treatment, or other official duties as approved by the Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, prior to such officer or employee receiving post-flight medical clearance to operate a motor vehicle.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph> </subsection> 
<subsection id="H3AFC318D05EE4F128D9A7C6C1E416A3D"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Report</header> 
<paragraph id="HAD402D0F840A4270AEC806AA1AE6EE51"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act and annually thereafter, the Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration shall submit to the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology and the Committee on Oversight and Accountability of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs of the Senate a report on transportation under paragraph (10) of section 1344(b) of title 31, United States Code (as amended by subsection (a)).</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HEFFC55A3950D4E4D82222AE1FA65966B"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Contents</header><text>Each report under paragraph (1) shall include, for the immediately preceding 12 month period, the following:</text> 
<subparagraph id="HE3B99996700B422FA4EC065AB520899B"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">For each officer or employee of a Federal agency transported, the following:</text> <clause id="H1FE0A051554D4808BE8F7DB947E0B92E"><enum>(i)</enum><text>A description of such transportation.</text></clause> 
<clause id="H15AFF9D77B394DFAAA6E8C531EC4A286"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>The name of any such officer or employee who received such transportation.</text></clause> <clause id="HE22D479149214C83AB22AEF1F6271AF8"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>Costs associated with such transportation.</text></clause> </subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H376CD63C0819442B907F1B689018C0D1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>The total number of instances such transportation was provided.</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="H764AFD14392E4AACAFBCEBFDD6B27DA8"><enum>(C)</enum><text>The total cost of such transportation.</text></subparagraph> </paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="H03ECB4F07B8B474994CAEE60F420BBD9"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Prohibition on certain funding</header><text>No additional amounts are authorized to be appropriated to carry out this Act or the amendments made by this Act.</text></subsection></section> </legis-body></bill>
