R. 2617</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20250403">April 3, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="O000086">Mr. Owens</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="M001239">Mr. McGuire</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HED00">Committee on Education and Workforce</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to prevent the use of funds under such Act to teach or advance concepts related to gender ideology, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HF258DEB15AC148FFA51D1BA7C8ADC464" style="OLC"><section id="H9FC5F3AEB7D24622BC7E7AE5D1901C3E" section-type="section-one" commented="no"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Say No to Indoctrination Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HFDA95BCE6D514C758F8E001122B75A5D"><enum>2.</enum><header>Prohibition on teaching gender ideology</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 8526 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/7906">20 U.S.C. 7906</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="HFEAF4730E6B643B283168C069D91C9D5"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in paragraph (6), by striking <quote>or</quote>; </text></paragraph><paragraph id="H72A17C3AC3334F67B04C4A81660C8273"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by redesignating paragraph (7) as paragraph (8); and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HFE3DDB795F33493E9DAA90278FAA40C1"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by inserting after paragraph (6) the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="HCABFD298123E49D8B78D5579A927D014" display-inline="no-display-inline"><paragraph id="H289E7CABA0294016B2A9EE23BB24E378"><enum>(7)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">to teach or advance concepts related to gender ideology, as defined in section 2 of Executive Order 14168 (90 Fed. Reg. 8615; relating to defending women from gender ideology extremism and restoring biological truth to the Federal Government); or</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
