R. 225</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20250107">January 7, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="D000594">Ms. De La Cruz</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="E000294">Mr. Emmer</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="R000612">Mr. Rose</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="L000599">Mr. Lawler</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001204">Mr. Meuser</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001120">Mr. Crenshaw</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="H001096">Ms. Hageman</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HBA00">Committee on Financial Services</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To require the Inspector General of the Department of Housing and Urban Development to testify before the Congress annually, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HB2D61001D5184B02A5707559E988739C" style="OLC"><section id="H8F45B87901F64BED8CDDBF10B4304FD8" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>HUD Transparency Act of 2025</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HE9D47321C1DB4C4EA0953380E63AF0BE"><enum>2.</enum><header>Congressional testimony</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Not later than October 1 of each year, the Inspector General of the Department of Housing and Urban Development shall appear before the Committee on Financial Services of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs of the Senate and present testimony on the Office of Inspector General’s—</text><paragraph id="HB37B6FFDF89B4AA9A7DAABCEB8735AF9"><enum>(1)</enum><text>efforts to detect and prevent fraud, waste, and abuse;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H3F54FB0FF0584C9ABA04476B9C1A0C11"><enum>(2)</enum><text>ability to conduct and supervise audits, investigations, and reviews;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H092F19E08F14454FA1CE8D29E4DC11B3"><enum>(3)</enum><text>actions to identify opportunities for the programs of the Department of Housing and Urban Development to progress and succeed;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H2713B83EEB554F62932B059759D82560"><enum>(4)</enum><text>recommendations to improve overall efficiency and public accountability;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HE82C4AE6D0CC41D19551E3C146FD8B16"><enum>(5)</enum><text>assessment of the extent to which the Department of Housing and Urban Development has resources sufficient to carry out its statutory mission; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HD233FDD0B713408F9CB5EB22C72A899E"><enum>(6)</enum><text>ongoing activities regarding any such additional work, as appropriate.</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
