<section id="H8C2DB769E6D4481597C2E67D03FFCD65" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Federal Law Enforcement Officer Service Weapon Purchase Act of 2025</short-title></quote>. </text></section> <section id="HB08FA29D3759442AB7A9E4B568213792"><enum>2.</enum><header>Purchase of retired firearms by Federal law enforcement officers</header> <subsection id="H686F1C9D4D9C4AB9986C0F3DA8C58368"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, the Administrator of General Services shall establish a program under which a Federal law enforcement officer may purchase a retired firearm from the Federal agency that issued the firearm to such officer.</text></subsection>
<subsection id="H063405488DCA4B4496F8D455B6B20BFD"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Limitations</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A Federal law enforcement officer may purchase a retired firearm under subsection (a) if—</text> <paragraph id="HC7694A0C546748CFB8D4870F7432F209"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the purchase is made during the six-month period beginning on the date the firearm was so retired; and</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="HCB1FDE020A80483290822B35886AAE89"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">with respect to such purchase, the officer is in good standing with the Federal agency that employs or employed such officer.</text></paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="HAA5F857BD6B245B599A4600493AE90C4"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Cost</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A firearm purchased under this section shall be sold at the salvage value for such firearm taking into account the age and condition of the firearm.</text></subsection>
<subsection id="H65B9A81DAE234D7EA71F6CE137168BA9"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section—</text> <paragraph id="H09676C9254724401AA813B96415E8D98"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the term <term>Federal law enforcement officer</term> has the meaning given that term in section 115(c)(1) of title 18, United States Code, and includes a retired Federal law enforcement officer;</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H7384BC5807044589B086707E7A345613"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the term <term>firearm</term> has the meaning given that term in section 921(a) of title 18, United States Code, excluding any machinegun (as defined in section 921(a)(24) of such title) not lawfully possessed before section 922(o) of such title took effect; </text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HC14FFB3B8E004C899A0A97354F51F36F"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the term <term>retired firearm</term> means any firearm that has been declared surplus by the applicable agency; and</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H07DADA5D5C8B46E9A4ED60D0996B9A70"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the term <term>salvage value</term> means the value of an asset after it has become useless to the owner or the amount expected to be obtained when a fixed asset is disposed of at the end of its useful life.</text></paragraph></subsection></section> </legis-body><attestation><attestation-group><attestation-date date="20250515" chamber="House">Passed the House of Representatives May 15, 2025.</attestation-date><attestor display="no">Kevin F.
