<section id="H829194DDF67649B888191F17B4D808E1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Eliminating Fraud and Improper Payments in TANF Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="H20CEFBD5E20B475183971C5AA48FC69D"><enum>2.</enum><header>Strengthening program integrity through improper payments review</header> <subsection id="HC534C338FB4C438591A74DDB77D0F345"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Section 404 of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/604">42 U.S.C. 604</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>

<subsection id="H2183A449CFB443DFB12FCF912DFD944D"><enum>(l)</enum><header>Applicability of payment integrity law</header><text>The Payment Integrity Information Act of 2019 shall apply to a State in respect of the State program funded under this part in the same manner in which such Act applies to a Federal agency.</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection> <subsection id="H0A718F13B124498B9C9C64C2B6B427D6"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendment made by subsection (a) shall take effect on October 1, 2026.</text></subsection>
<subsection id="HC6B7A80AE6BA41DBAD8DB7D9B8334533"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Report to congress</header><text>Within 1 year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Health and Human Services shall submit to the Congress a written report that contains a plan to reduce or eliminate improper payments made by States under part A of title IV of the Social Security Act within 10 years.</text></subsection></section> </legis-body></bill>
