<section id="HCCDC1354D3A445B2B670282ED9D94FAF" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Salem Maritime National Historical Park Redesignation and Boundary Study Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="H0864A0D6F2874217AF3923E7EAE9D75C"><enum>2.</enum><header>Salem Maritime National Historical Park</header> <subsection id="HB98BE3A2BE354DA1B5966945DB5AEF26"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Redesignation</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Salem Maritime National Historic Site shall hereafter be known and designated as the <quote>Salem Maritime National Historical Park</quote>.</text></subsection>
<subsection id="H5F0EE05B38194741B994AA04FF9B9ADC"><enum>(b)</enum><header>References in law</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Any reference to the Salem Maritime National Historic Site in any law, regulation, map, document, record, or other paper of the United States shall be deemed to be a reference to the Salem Maritime National Historical Park.</text></subsection></section> <section id="H753EE97EA56D45B7A7CEBC0E2EA8B6D0"><enum>3.</enum><header>Boundary study</header> <subsection id="H3A0B3BD99B0847A0BFDE8F318664AC37"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary shall conduct a boundary study to evaluate the suitability and feasibility of including in the National Park System, as part of the Salem Maritime National Historical Park (as redesignated by section 2(a)), sites and resources in the study area associated with the study area’s—</text>
<paragraph id="HF3712B3031B142A78A496B42D97BE3DF"><enum>(1)</enum><text>maritime history; </text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H114DC750394C4D7496324BBAA49B50E3"><enum>(2)</enum><text>coastal defenses; and</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H3BE26B4F7F414AE2BF9474C24EA601AE"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">military history, including National Guard and militia activity.</text></paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="HB33C36B336214F6AB5E09951984C8610"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Report</header><text>Not later than 3 years after the date on which funds are made available to conduct the study required under subsection (a), the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Natural Resources of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate a report containing—</text>
<paragraph id="H0504E3621D7043509BFF2F1E25169E35"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the results of the study; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H5255D32B2EB6479589B0F3A681AB8C9C"><enum>(2)</enum><text>any findings, conclusions, and recommendations of the Secretary. </text></paragraph></subsection>
<subsection id="H7AC9B3A04CE54B47B92FF4639C9AC0CA"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this section:</text> <paragraph id="H8757E5B782504CD4A04EF2823B0F7D3F"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Secretary</header><text>The term <term>Secretary</term> means the Secretary of the Interior. </text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="HBF46B28158DC4F0BAF833B48217ABB55"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Study area</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>study area</term> means Salem, Massachusetts, and its vicinity, and includes the Salem Armory Visitor Center building and adjacent Salem Armory Park.</text></paragraph></subsection></section> </legis-body></bill>
