R. 2095</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20250314">March 14, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="G000597">Mr. Garbarino</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name>, and in addition to the Committee on <committee-name committee-id="HGO00">Oversight and Government Reform</committee-name>, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title 18, United States Code, to modify the role and duties of United States Postal Service police officers, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H5E0429391DBE4FCCBEF24E13C3C018C4" style="OLC"><section id="H0173AEE3FA214896A822040B8D847CD1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Postal Police Reform Act of 2025</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="HF22CED1EEFE74A22B1D774B451C1D0B9"><enum>2.</enum><header>Role and duties of USPS police officers</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 3061 of title 18, United States Code, is amended—</text><paragraph id="HCBAAB0CE0F924417974BE67F7003AD47"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (a), by striking <quote>Postal Inspectors and other agents of the United States Postal Service</quote> and inserting <quote>Postal Inspectors, Postal Service police officers, and other agents of the United States Postal Service</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H87E44BB2D2BD4F0E8C2D2E7DF6E17BDA"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by amending subsection (c) to read as follows: </text><quoted-block style="USC" id="HB4C4919C76294AC7A7266E0748D3C564" display-inline="no-display-inline"><subsection id="H74D880EFEDEA473F82FB8BB98A28C50B"><enum>(c)</enum><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="HF81A69EBDC944FF1B894B39B1B4053CD"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">As to property owned or occupied by the Postal Service or under the charge and control of the Postal Service, the Postmaster General may prescribe regulations necessary for the protection and administration of property owned or occupied by the Postal Service and persons on the property. The regulations may include reasonable penalties, within the limits prescribed in paragraph (2), for violations of the regulations. The regulations shall be posted and remain posted in a conspicuous place on the property.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HF0129B21A446496990AF9537A0A89D6F" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A person violating a regulation prescribed under this subsection shall be fined under this title, imprisoned for not more than 30 days, or both.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
