R. 2013</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20250310">March 10, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S001199">Mr. Smucker</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="J000302">Mr. Joyce of Pennsylvania</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="D000399">Mr. Doggett</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="T000469">Mr. Tonko</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001205">Mrs. Miller of West Virginia</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="F000466">Mr. Fitzpatrick</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="D000230">Mr. Davis of North Carolina</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HWM00">Committee on Ways and Means</committee-name>, and in addition to the Committee on <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Energy and Commerce</committee-name>, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide for eligibility for coverage of home health services under the Medicare program on the basis of a need for occupational therapy.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H6DDF2EB2BEEF4018B882543E0A3DB671" style="OLC"><section section-type="section-one" id="HBB8A9675DACE4575A194307D1A97E328" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Medicare Home Health Accessibility Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HF4C2AD9EA3964FF3B8FA74A5DBBFCA1A"><enum>2.</enum><header>Eligibility for home health services on the basis of a need for occupational therapy</header><subsection id="HC7A77C758B134FADBF0DBE68EB965D0B"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Part A</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 1814(a)(2)(C) of the <act-name parsable-cite="SSA">Social Security Act</act-name> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1395f">42 U.S.C. 1395f(a)(2)(C)</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>or speech therapy</quote> and all that follows through <quote>need occupational therapy</quote> and inserting <quote>, occupational, or speech therapy</quote>.</text></subsection><subsection id="H77B6224899A54C909A2BA025F88B13FE"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Part B</header><text>Section 1835(a)(2)(A) of the <act-name parsable-cite="SSA">Social Security Act</act-name> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1395n">42 U.S.C. 1395n(a)(2)(A)</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>or speech therapy</quote> and all that follows through <quote>need occupational therapy</quote> and inserting <quote>, occupational, or speech therapy</quote>.</text></subsection><subsection id="HC082C7FBABC944199F05D64B6115277C"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendments made by subsections (a) and (b) shall apply to home health services provided on or after January 1, 2026.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
