R. 1965</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20250306">March 6, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="V000136">Mr. Vasquez</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="V000129">Mr. Valadao</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HVR00">Committee on Veterans' Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title 38, United States Code, to provide for an annual increase in stipend for books, supplies, equipment, and other educational costs under Post-9/11 Educational Assistance Program of Department of Veterans Affairs.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HA8543A23BC4D4FC28046D67D81694C50" style="OLC"><section id="H54718B4E047F4BE1BC009E90E75F216C" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Veteran Education Assistance Adjustment Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="HDEA0A5D5BAAF426DBFF3FA122D264CA9"><enum>2.</enum><header>Annual increase in stipend for books, supplies, equipment, and other educational costs under Post-9/11 Educational Assistance Program of Department of Veterans Affairs</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 3313 of title 38, United States Code, is amended—</text><paragraph id="HF8E51DC2B73B44D0A47B7EF2DBFE89C6"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in subsection (c)(1)(B)(iv)(I), by striking <quote>$1,000</quote> and inserting <quote>$1,400</quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H10B944A589EF485BA70AD39DBED926B8"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subsection (e)(2)(B)(i), by striking <quote>$1,000</quote> and inserting <quote>$1,400</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HAEFCB4EC80D145E7A11CD66EAC49F15B"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text><quoted-block style="USC" id="H6E0CDF25EB2C4FF8AD1FD8D24A0C89E4" display-inline="no-display-inline"><subsection id="HA5735087142E484DA6FF83279521AB1A"><enum>(m)</enum><header>Annual increase in stipend for books, supplies, equipment, and other educational costs</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">With respect to fiscal year 2026 and each subsequent fiscal year, the Secretary shall provide a percentage increase (rounded to the nearest dollar) in the amounts payable under subsections (c)(1)(B)(iv)(I), (e)(2)(B)(i), and (g)(3)(A)(iii), equal to the percentage by which—</text><paragraph id="H79888361AFA3453AA080B50DBA2A8FDC"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (U.S. city average) for the 12-month period ending on the June 30 preceding the beginning of the fiscal year for which the increase is made, exceeds</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H5CBE0110B22E442AB1C1B7E46B31AC55"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the Consumer Price Index for the 12-month period preceding the 12-month period described in paragraph (1).</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
