R. 1800</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20250303">March 3, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="M001230">Mr. Mackenzie</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HFA00">Committee on Foreign Affairs</committee-name>, and in addition to the Committees on <committee-name committee-id="HBA00">Financial Services</committee-name>, <committee-name committee-id="HWM00">Ways and Means</committee-name>, <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">the Judiciary</committee-name>, and <committee-name committee-id="HGO00">Oversight and Government Reform</committee-name>, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To repeal the sunset provision of the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H64807CE8C560460983C83DDB57EAC8AE" style="OLC"><section id="HF0A3A5533CFD48E18803FE92E9FDBA48" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Solidify Iran Sanctions Act of 2025</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H0CB791F56A744C388ED719EC12010DB9"><enum>2.</enum><header>Findings</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Congress makes the following findings:</text><paragraph id="HA1E553947E3D4AC18A32EA8634A3F95B"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/104/172">Public Law 104–172</external-xref>; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/50/1701">50 U.S.C. 1701</external-xref> note) requires the imposition of sanctions with respect to Iran’s illicit weapons programs, conventional weapons and ballistic missile development, and support for terrorism, including Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H193A1E65E8A7485F9467F2D819E24858"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The Government of Iran has acquired destabilizing conventional weapons systems from the Russian Federation and other malign actors, and is funneling weapons and financial support to its terrorist proxies throughout the Middle East, threatening allies and partners of the United States, such as Israel.</text></paragraph></section><section id="HF5B88BD1369F46F29ABBEB2E696065DD"><enum>3.</enum><header>Statement of policy</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">It is the policy of the United States to fully implement and enforce the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/104/172">Public Law 104–172</external-xref>; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/50/1701">50 U.S.C. 1701</external-xref> note).</text></section><section id="H84BBBEC94885430DBFD573EB1EADC46A"><enum>4.</enum><header>Repeal of sunset</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 13 of the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/104/172">Public Law 104–172</external-xref>; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/50/1701">50 U.S.C. 1701</external-xref> note) is amended—</text><paragraph id="H7418ED2B6D0848EDB8CF8AF5A4BFD4D3"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in the section heading, by striking <quote><header-in-text style="OLC" level="section">; sunset</header-in-text></quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HE46D45378E624AADA46C27B511D4CBD0"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking <quote>(a) <header-in-text style="OLC" level="subsection">Effective date</header-in-text>.—</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H79C0A52EAAD246F7B0B7889621FAF793"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by striking subsection (b).</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
