R. 1622</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20250226">February 26, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="M001239">Mr. McGuire</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="M001228">Ms. Maloy</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B001260">Mr. Buchanan</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001218">Mr. McCormick</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="H001099">Mr. Haridopolos</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="G000565">Mr. Gosar</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HII00">Committee on Natural Resources</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To provide for the inclusion of uranium on the list of critical minerals, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H711EABB8EAA0404BB64CA3ADBD4E672D" style="OLC"><section id="H07F2C1D042B24DBA879995779EF1A417" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Uranium for Energy Independence Act of 2025</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HFFB6E7EA4A4F45809B7776072AA572B5"><enum>2.</enum><header>Uranium critical mineral status</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Notwithstanding the exclusion of fuel minerals from the definition of the term <quote>critical mineral</quote> under any Federal law, regulation, or Executive order, uranium—</text><paragraph id="H57F33E35D71340E3A57D9CDCDAEB2221"><enum>(1)</enum><text>is deemed to be included on the 2022 final list of critical minerals in the notice entitled <quote>2022 Final List of Critical Minerals</quote> published by the United States Geological Survey (87 Fed. Reg. 10381; February 24, 2022), and shall be treated as if included on that list at the time of publication; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HC48CF3EF0AC84670A0FB5D8BA4C52B28"><enum>(2)</enum><text>shall be included on each subsequent list of critical minerals published pursuant to section 7002 of the Energy Act of 2020 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/30/1606">30 U.S.C. 1606</external-xref>).</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
