<section id="HF04C7E4CA2CC4694BE554E28B288FA43" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>America Works Act of 2025</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="HDF0778DFAFF94BB0A00DC80A78108220"><enum>2.</enum><header>Amendments</header> <subsection id="HF5B05E614B0F47208B3FFEF7536A86C1"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Amendments to the food and nutrition act of 2008</header><text>Section 6(o) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 is amended—</text>
<paragraph id="H6D5B00F010F74CA0BCCFEE7427A5D2DD"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by amending paragraph (3) to read as follows:</text> <quoted-block id="HC378B59AB1ED4984A0CC805B1C7CB1AD" style="OLC"> <paragraph id="H90A369573D9145A7A3862E7A1F529D0C"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Exception</header><text>Paragraph (2) shall not apply to an individual if the individual is—</text>
<subparagraph id="H54D631F8E0EA4DBEA57AD10173153B1E"><enum>(A)</enum><text>under 18 or over 65 years of age;</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="H3D09DDCA6FC24D02B9DFB0265926145E"><enum>(B)</enum><text>medically certified as physically or mentally unfit for employment;</text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="HAF76A9BC788E44939471E183E8DFED2E"><enum>(C)</enum><text>is a parent or other member of a household with responsibility for a dependent child under 7 years of age;</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="H5F0A81E3A9A34D0592824A1A07951990"><enum>(D)</enum><text>otherwise exempt under subsection (d)(2); or</text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H6116B89CE7C841B3931A5CEC3A0B0C73"><enum>(E)</enum><text>a pregnant woman.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>, and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph> <paragraph id="HBC5F7D5D52DE4B688F710E99E9DE0C17"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by amending subparagraph (4)(A) to read as follows:</text>

<subparagraph id="H840430F15CC447D1AD805D7E470232BB"><enum>(A)</enum><header>In general</header><text>On the request of a State agency and with the support of the chief executive officer of the State, the Secretary may waive the applicability of paragraph (2) to any group of individuals in the State if the Secretary makes the determination that the county or county-equivalent in which the individuals reside has an unemployment rate of over 10 percent.</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>, and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="H6752738E5C5B45689405CD869FDDD611"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Conforming amendment</header><text>Section 311 of title II of division C of the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/118/5">Public Law 118–5</external-xref>; 137 STAT. 36) is amended by striking subsection (b).</text></subsection></section>
