<section id="HF2757278A2074CA3887A79F912C54AEC" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>United States Research Protection Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section> <section id="H1FFDB61042D94CB087C577A88C8FD6D6"><enum>2.</enum><header>Clarification of definition of foreign country for purposes of malign foreign talent recruitment restriction</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Paragraph (4) of section 10638 of title VI of division B of the Research and Development, Competition, and Innovation Act (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/117/167">Public Law 117–167</external-xref>; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/19237">42 U.S.C. 19237</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
<paragraph id="H23253F69BF334BB292A85E791A54C414"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by inserting <quote>of concern</quote> after <quote>foreign country</quote> each place such term appears;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H0E2BB388E39445E0ABDC3E2DFDD14F9B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking <quote>means—</quote> and all that follows through <quote>any program, position, or activity</quote> and inserting <quote>means any program, position, or activity</quote>;</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="HACD018029E874626849E5761A9A34BC1"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by striking subparagraph (B);</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H7959CC258BB445FF8D083DB5C1B7EEF7"><enum>(4)</enum><text>by redesignating clauses (i) through (ix) as subparagraphs (A) through (I), respectively, and moving such subparagraphs, as so redesignated, two ems to the left;</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="HBCC5B0E3BFDE4840B3080462F4D1FB40"><enum>(5)</enum><text>in the matter preceding subparagraph (A), as so redesignated, by striking <quote>directly provided</quote> and inserting <quote>whether directly or indirectly provided</quote>; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H06C63EEB3DD8411C87A1C1B14F2CE896"><enum>(6)</enum><text>in subparagraph (I), as so redesignated, by striking <quote>; and</quote> and inserting a period.</text></paragraph></section>
