<section id="H6DE0D0AD3AF74F76A7E8EBFED01C7D28" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>No Asylum for Criminals Act of 2025</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="H1B294F1E45474CD1847BEF08510F2272"><enum>2.</enum><header>Aliens convicted of crimes ineligible for asylum</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Clause (ii) of section 208(b)(2) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1158">8 U.S.C. 1158</external-xref>) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H775530294F99464296481107B0598D43"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by amending clause (ii) of subparagraph (A) to read as follows: </text> <quoted-block style="OLC" id="HC256EFC1CC544F38AB02288D52ED55B5" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <clause id="HEB9529346B624B579E2565EFDDE443C4"><enum>(ii)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">except as provided in subparagraph (B), the alien has been finally convicted of a felony or misdemeanor; </text></clause><after-quoted-block>; </after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HE79FF6F2A86F443F9DBE7AB5D3B7F542"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by amending subparagraph (B) to read as follows: </text> <quoted-block style="OLC" id="HFDFC66B5CEB34B99B5458DDA2AD5E33F" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <subparagraph id="H7568708B69FE49D2A517685DE4366E84"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Exception</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Homeland Security may designate by regulation political offenses committed outside the United States that will be not considered to be a crime described in clause (ii). The authority under this subparagraph is limited to political offenses committed outside the United States. </text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>; and </after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph>
<paragraph id="HBA9DC63F10654DB199D60C6D34F0A5D6"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following: </text> <quoted-block style="OLC" id="H4977127B1F5C4C41AA37B63CB40C3DED" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <subparagraph id="H4DBC4FFA856441E6ADCB1E9F312AA83B"><enum>(E)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this paragraph:</text>
<clause id="H2D76C8174ECB4D34BBD6291CE0823983"><enum>(i)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>felony</quote> means—</text> <subclause id="HE6E17144F07746A79DE6FD46E24BE36B"><enum>(I)</enum><text>any crime defined as a felony by the relevant jurisdiction (Federal, State, tribal, or local) of conviction; or</text></subclause>
<subclause id="H7186BF9C43434E309CD25DCAB400D003"><enum>(II)</enum><text>any crime punishable by more than one year of imprisonment.</text></subclause></clause> <clause id="HE1BB3A8A131F4DD38087DF4B522002CD"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>The term <quote>misdemeanor</quote> means—</text>
<subclause id="H69203FBC1B354B96958AE7BC196FA4A0"><enum>(I)</enum><text>any crime defined as a misdemeanor by the relevant jurisdiction (Federal, State, tribal, or local) of conviction; or</text></subclause> <subclause id="H90FABE2992834363BB2217E002105AB6"><enum>(II)</enum><text>any crime not punishable by more than one year of imprisonment.</text></subclause></clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section>
