<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4345</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20240515">May 15, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S408">Mr. Hickenlooper</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S411">Mr. Marshall</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSAF00">Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978 to reauthorize and expand State-wide assessments and strategies for forest resources.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Branch Out Implementation Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="iddfacd1b5c39c4944930591b2e6178da7"><enum>2.</enum><header>State-wide assessments and strategies for forest resources funding</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 2A of the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/2101a">16 U.S.C. 2101a</external-xref>) is amended by striking subsection (f) and inserting the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id865837D99AD448CC97DA6744C821B283"><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id33cfc38acc784bfc80c67ec4792313ca"><enum>(f)</enum><header>Funding</header><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id93cb4f972c4545edae0d2bd871ab31c6"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Authorization of appropriations</header><text>There is authorized to be appropriated to develop and implement the State-wide assessment and State-wide strategy required by subsection (a) not more than $40,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2008 through 2029.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="ide81230334f2243fcb07154a5111963cc"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Additional funding sources</header><text>In addition to funds appropriated for a fiscal year pursuant to paragraph (1), the Secretary may use any other funds made available under this Act to develop and implement the State-wide assessment and State-wide strategy required by subsection (a), except that the total amount of combined funding to develop and implement that State-wide assessment and State-wide strategy may not exceed $40,000,000 in any fiscal year.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
