which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSCM00">Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To provide for an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) integration strategy.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="H35E62F2A604F4F99B2867564C78C8CF9" display-inline="no-display-inline" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>UAS integration strategy</header><subsection id="H6AD47F7EB28B4C18B5948C3AC6134D59"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Administrator shall implement the recommendations made by—</text><paragraph id="H065B33F26B694F02A5CC4AA3CDABFDA3"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the Comptroller General to the Secretary contained in the report of the Government Accountability Office titled <quote>Drones: FAA Should Improve Its Approach to Integrating Drones into the National Airspace System</quote>, issued in January 2023 (GAO–23–105189); and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H66ADB8D19B324206B2D86F00EA7F8626"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the inspector general of the Department of Transportation to the Administrator contained in the audit report of the inspector general titled <quote>FAA Made Progress Through Its UAS Integration Pilot Program, but FAA and Industry Challenges Remain To Achieve Full UAS Integration</quote>, issued in April 2022 (Project ID: AV2022027).</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HEE5B7E5088924A6CBC6CAC370FD0D410"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Briefing</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 12 months after the date of enactment of this Act, and annually thereafter through 2028, the Administrator shall provide a briefing to the appropriate committees of Congress that—</text><paragraph id="H2BA676FB09F84262A6A7A366399B49ED"><enum>(1)</enum><text>provides a status update on the—</text><subparagraph id="H4CFDCFB1B77B49E1A8CFA5EB3A4556AF"><enum>(A)</enum><text>implementation of the recommendations described in subsection (a);</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H59033FC04D7E493C86439BA34C1F0405"><enum>(B)</enum><text>implementation of statutory provisions related to unmanned aircraft system integration under subtitle B of title III of division B of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 (Public Law 115–254); and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H55BD2D7EEDB24B06B4D01ADB15D7F867"><enum>(C)</enum><text>actions taken by the Administrator to implement recommendations related to safe integration of unmanned aircraft systems into the national airspace system included in aviation rulemaking committee reports published after the date of enactment of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 (Public Law 115–254);</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H232F5229B6454C3BBC1043E3D56A1B59"><enum>(2)</enum><text>provides a description of steps taken to achieve the safe integration of such systems into the national airspace system, including milestones and performance metrics to track results;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H47161FBF85B843A2B46A072F5F707A0A"><enum>(3)</enum><text>provides the costs of executing the integration described in paragraph (2), including any estimates of future Federal resources or investments required to complete such integration; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HE3928EAE905943B08DF66DA95DBC8028"><enum>(4)</enum><text>identifies any regulatory or policy changes required to execute the integration described in paragraph (2).</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id8BD35540D68B46FB8AABDBE7821C6D88"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section:</text><paragraph id="H2BCD9B25FC354D48BC2D172C4A364EB4"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Administrator</header><text>The term <quote>Administrator</quote> means the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HC430F326AC0D4B168EAD2F307583247E"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Appropriate committees of Congress</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>appropriate committees of Congress</quote> means the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H6E4EE18B357E4E17BBB0B1402FA5BEF7"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Comptroller General</header><text>The term <quote>Comptroller General</quote> means the Comptroller General of the United States.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H2129BB001BEF40E0ADEF71003D6AE996"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Secretary</header><text>The term <quote>Secretary</quote> means the Secretary of Transportation.   </text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
