<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4174</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20240418">April 18, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S420">Mr. Schmitt</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S414">Mr. Ossoff</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSHR00">Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend title IV of the Public Health Service Act to direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services to establish a clearinghouse on intellectual disabilities, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="H5198B06A7CEB4E088FA8F411097115A8"><section section-type="section-one" id="H8C4919B46FFD4D50A68BC7C0AFEA4454"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Think Differently Database Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="H7BD2EA6BBB5D4FE4822001F89C018FE1"><enum>2.</enum><header>Clearinghouse on intellectual disabilities</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Subpart 7 of part C of title IV of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/285g">42 U.S.C. 285g et seq.</external-xref>) is amended by inserting after section 450 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/285g-2">42 U.S.C. 285g–2</external-xref>) the following: </text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H048655556D7A49288AA7050240FF9B30"><section id="HBA294CCD4B374A659CC0347FE2620263"><enum>450A.</enum><header>Clearinghouse on intellectual disabilities</header><subsection id="H4B4DD7E9B647472AA939C3B95D5C7176"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary, in consultation with the Director of NIH and the Director of the Institute, shall establish within the Department of Health and Human Services, a publicly available clearinghouse to provide information with respect to resources and information for people with an intellectual disability and the caregivers and families of such people. Such clearinghouse shall include—</text><paragraph id="H4C61CD6BEB8646F0AB10CDD1CA196F40"><enum>(1)</enum><text>information on individual community-based services and long-term support services available to individuals eligible for medical assistance under a State plan under the Medicaid program under title XIX of the Social Security Act (or a waiver of such plan);</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H4917011B329148C4B83ABCCA4D20DE8C"><enum>(2)</enum><text>information on how to obtain health care, mental health care, and other relevant services; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H19A2DF2A39C3441BBFB7EDEFC0D4504A"><enum>(3)</enum><text>a searchable database of such resources that may be searched by postal ZIP Code.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H2B5AC9AC13494285A2050C9CF6BAC2EF"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Promotion</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary shall, as applicable and appropriate, identify and disseminate promotional activities to improve, among people with an intellectual disability and the caretakers and families of such people, the awareness of the resources included in the clearinghouse established under subsection (a).</text></subsection><subsection id="HEDF22DD12D5F4A7CA43E536646EF8315"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Model</header><text>In establishing the clearinghouse under this section, the Secretary may use the website thinkdifferently.net as a model.</text></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
