<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 3813</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20240227">February 27, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S253">Mr. Durbin</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S346">Mr. Lee</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S153">Mr. Grassley</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S311">Ms. Klobuchar</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S337">Mr. Coons</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S341">Mr. Blumenthal</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S355">Mr. Cruz</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S361">Ms. Hirono</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S399">Mr. Hawley</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S422">Mr. Welch</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S424">Ms. Butler</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S350">Mr. Rubio</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend title 5, United States Code, relative to the powers of the Inspector General of the Department of Justice. </official-title></form><legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause"><section section-type="section-one" id="id81BC8E650BE24D32B26429F96F3945F5"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Inspector General Access Act of 2024</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section section-type="subsequent-section" id="id7448BE0FC74749B3B3494EE80CE22DF9"><enum>2.</enum><header>Investigations of Department of Justice personnel</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 413 of title 5, United States Code, is amended—</text><paragraph id="idF901BC519FA0469091142D059FB83E0B"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in subsection (b)—</text><subparagraph id="id7D173F98760243C1B08EFC97BDEA939C"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in paragraph (2), by striking <quote>and paragraph (3)</quote>;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="idCE7887F12F1B4604AA7A8A3EA369B095"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by striking paragraph (3);</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="idF4E102AA8C4C4E4AA722B28F27776764"><enum>(C)</enum><text>by redesignating paragraphs (4) and (5) as paragraphs (3) and (4), respectively; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="idF47E087840DA46C98F4B3E29565B1508"><enum>(D)</enum><text>in paragraph (4), as so redesignated, by striking <quote>paragraph (4)</quote> and inserting <quote>paragraph (3)</quote>; and</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="iddbb6e2f5fbe94ee3ad2bc5017dfd2910"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subsection (d), by striking <quote>, except with respect to allegations described in subsection (b)(3),</quote>.</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
