<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 3788</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20240208" legis-day="20240207">February 8 (legislative day, February 7), 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S288">Ms. Murkowski</sponsor> (for herself and <cosponsor name-id="S275">Ms. Cantwell</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSCM00">Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To reauthorize the National Landslide Preparedness Act, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>National Landslide Preparedness Act Reauthorization Act of 2024</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id1e022407145e4bafaac45fe49313fa95"><enum>2.</enum><header>Reauthorization of the National Landslide Preparedness Act</header><subsection id="id6df985abb2a844e68ad4d30a78c652e1"><enum>(a)</enum><header>National landslide hazards reduction program</header><text>Section 3(h) of the National Landslide Preparedness Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/43/3102">43 U.S.C. 3102(h)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="idd5f05d503a584908a2c2f65673c623e0"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in the matter preceding paragraph (1), by striking <quote>2024</quote> and inserting <quote>2034</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id7fbc948b57514f5492532b996f0b26bd"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (1), by striking <quote>$25,000,000 to carry out this section</quote> and inserting <quote>$40,000,000 to carry out this section, of which not less than $15,000,000 shall be made available for the purchase and deployment of landslide early warning systems in high-risk areas</quote>.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id4c5d520340c643a9b1f55f3d8f4af6f6"><enum>(b)</enum><header>3d elevation program</header><text>Section 5(e) of the National Landslide Preparedness Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/43/3104">43 U.S.C. 3104(e)</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>2024</quote> and inserting <quote>2034</quote>. </text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
