<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>2nd Session</session><legis-num>S. 3627</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20240118">January 18, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S307">Mr. Brown</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S355">Mr. Cruz</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S338">Mr. Manchin</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S407">Mr. Hagerty</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S418">Mr. Fetterman</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S423">Mr. Ricketts</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S309">Mr. Casey</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S350">Mr. Rubio</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S403">Ms. Sinema</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S391">Mr. Young</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S314">Mr. Tester</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S417">Mr. Budd</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSEG00">Committee on Energy and Natural Resources</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Energy Policy and Conservation Act to require a certain efficiency level for certain distribution transformers, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="id4d91c5b2030c429d96dcfb76b49b9207" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Distribution Transformer Efficiency and Supply Chain Reliability Act of 2024</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idbe781f6e4c5b4feaa41c2d6ae3ca8118" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Efficiency level for liquid-immersed and dry type distribution transformers</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 321(35) of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/6291">42 U.S.C. 6291(35)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id1B932EE1FAC0484E9D95D51DF1F83A41"><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id3749a0215bfc4664b5624cf5189e3429"><enum>(C)</enum><header>Efficiency level</header><text>The Secretary shall not finalize any rule under which the efficiency level of a liquid-immersed type, low voltage dry type, or medium voltage dry type distribution transformer is greater than trial standard level 2 (as described in table V.1 in the proposed rule entitled <quote>Energy Conservation Program: Energy Conservation Standards for Distribution Transformers</quote> (88 Fed. Reg. 1722 (January 11, 2023))).</text></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idaa820ddcec81451ab9976fdbab5eec51"><enum>(D)</enum><header>Effective date for certain rules</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Any rule finalized by the Secretary under which the efficiency level of a liquid-immersed type, low voltage dry type, or medium voltage dry-type distribution transformer is trial standard level 1 or 2 (as described in table V.1 in the proposed rule entitled ‘Energy Conservation Program: Energy Conservation Standards for Distribution Transformers’ (88 Fed. Reg. 1722 (January 11, 2023))) shall not take effect until 10 years after the date on which the rule is finalized.</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
