RES. 1340</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240708">July 8, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="B001309">Mr. Burchett</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="H001086">Mrs. Harshbarger</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="F000459">Mr. Fleischmann</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="D000616">Mr. DesJarlais</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="O000175">Mr. Ogles</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="R000612">Mr. Rose</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000590">Mr. Green of Tennessee</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="K000392">Mr. Kustoff</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="C001068">Mr. Cohen</cosponsor>) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HED00">Committee on Education and the Workforce</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Congratulating the University of Tennessee, Knoxville as the College World Series winner.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (referred to in this preamble as the <quote>University of Tennessee</quote>) is located in the second congressional district of Tennessee;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the University of Tennessee Volunteers baseball team finished the 2024 season with a record number of wins and earned the distinction of national champions for the first time in program history;</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text>Whereas the University of Tennessee Volunteers baseball team won the Southeastern Conference regular season and tournament titles;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the 2024 University of Tennessee Volunteers baseball team is the first Southeastern Conference baseball team in history to win 60 games;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the University of Tennessee Volunteers baseball team set a record with 5 players recording 20 or more home runs during the 2024 season;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the University of Tennessee Volunteers defeated Texas A&amp;M University by a score of 6 to 5 on Monday, June 25, to win the 2024 College World Series;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas this victory is a testament to the dedication of the players, coaches, staff, and fans of the University of Tennessee Volunteers baseball program; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas this remarkable team has made the entire State of Tennessee deeply proud: Now, therefore, be it </text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="traditional" id="HB625514E863D4245BF1CCA52DCF688C0"><section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="H54C2907BA2D14D48AC351C00BD4CFEBA"><enum/><text>That the House of Representatives—</text><paragraph id="HFEFC785BB991418798DF784717DEE888"><enum>(1)</enum><text>congratulates and honors the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Volunteers baseball program for its incredible win in the 2024 College World Series and for winning the first baseball national title in program history;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H10A86269A2184FED8D2C6106165C6C32"><enum>(2)</enum><text>recognizes the achievements, teamwork, and Volunteer spirit of the coaches, players, and staff of the University of Tennessee baseball team;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H1D545C649D7E4E18A9E576A9CF4CAA85"><enum>(3)</enum><text>commends the fans and the entire State of Tennessee for their dedication and support; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H63D09B414E2A4B31A6D861721E4527CF"><enum>(4)</enum><text>respectfully requests that the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit an enrolled copy of this resolution to—</text><subparagraph id="H34DCE86FFD4B40D584FC3AA633BD5AE1"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the Head Coach of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville baseball team, Tony Vitello;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H702943F960014606B107B8CBD716C4CD"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the Chancellor of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Donde Plowman; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H5D1B9B8F0A8F4A839443912DA440A43D"><enum>(C)</enum><text>the Director of Athletics of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Danny White. </text></subparagraph></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
