Jackson Women’s Health Organization.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas the Declaration of Independence announces the self-evident truth that <quote>all men are created equal</quote> and <quote>are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights</quote>;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the first of those unalienable rights is the right to life;</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas modern science has illuminated our understanding of the humanity of unborn life;</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text>Whereas the Supreme Court of the United States committed a grave injustice in <italic>Roe</italic> v. <italic>Wade</italic>, 410 U.S. 113 (1973) (referred to in this preamble as <quote><italic>Roe</italic></quote>), by inventing a constitutional right to abortion, thereby denying a class of innocent people their right to life;</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text>Whereas more than 63,000,000 unborn lives were lost to abortion under <italic>Roe</italic>;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, on June 24, 2022, the Supreme Court of the United States, in <italic>Dobbs</italic> v. <italic>Jackson Women’s Health Organization</italic>, 142 S. Ct. 2228 (2022) (referred to in this preamble as <quote><italic>Dobbs</italic></quote>), corrected the grave injustice committed in <italic>Roe</italic>, by holding that <quote>the Constitution does not confer a right to abortion</quote> and that <quote><italic>Roe</italic> and <italic>Casey</italic> must be overruled, and the authority to regulate abortion must be returned to the people and their elected representatives</quote>;</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text>Whereas many States have taken historic steps to protect unborn life since the ruling of the Supreme Court of the United States in <italic>Dobbs</italic>; and </text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text>Whereas many millions of people in the United States continue to press to protect unborn life and strengthen support for families charged with protecting that life: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="traditional" id="H9CE9856C0494499CAB8180E5AA4C93FF"><section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="H77F65C4A497F42CF87D343B3A5B5B86E"><enum/><text>That the House of Representatives—</text><paragraph id="H5F5D81EB60BC42838DF71573BDC4BEFF"><enum>(1)</enum><text>commemorates 2 years since the ruling of the Supreme Court of the United States in <italic>Dobbs</italic> v. <italic>Jackson Women’s Health Organization</italic>, 142 S. Ct. 2228 (2022) (referred to in this resolution as <quote><italic>Dobbs</italic></quote>);</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H62CD81E78A1D41DBAE151D1C69E00C84"><enum>(2)</enum><text>celebrates the millions of lives that will be saved as a result of the ruling in <italic>Dobbs</italic>;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H257D075B89464648A034846CDD775D06"><enum>(3)</enum><text>commits to protecting the unalienable right to life and guarding unborn lives against lethal violence;</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H8AAA3F95311D4CE1BD3C890B0D743185"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">commits to strengthening the support of the Federal Government for families, including for new and expectant mothers and their children; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HD2D67CE8147E4DF49E78EA09E7599D1A"><enum>(5)</enum><text>commits to proclaiming the humanity of the unborn, consistent with the findings of modern science and the unswerving demands of justice. </text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
