Whereas Semper Fi & America’s Fund was founded around Karen Guenther’s kitchen table in 2003 by a group of dedicated wives of Marines who saw a need when the first wave of injured members of the Armed Forces returned from Iraq and Afghanistan; Whereas these devoted women launched a grassroots effort to support such members, veterans, and their families to manage on their own; Whereas Semper Fi & America’s Fund has grown over the past 20 years in the mission of caring for the Nation’s critically wounded, ill, and injured members, veterans, and military families; Whereas Semper Fi & America’s Fund provides comprehensive lifetime assistance and one-on-one case management to ensure personalized and focused care to members of all Armed Forces; Whereas Semper Fi & America’s Fund has provided over $337,000,000 to members of the Armed Forces and military families and has assisted over 33,000 such members; Whereas Semper Fi & America’s Fund employs a holistic approach, integrating physical, mental, and emotional recovery, which most often leads to both healing and growing; Whereas members of the Armed Forces, veterans, and military family members who have been with Semper Fi & America’s Fund for at least four years are three times less likely to experience anxiety, suicidal ideation, substance abuse, homelessness, incarceration, and unemployment; Whereas Semper Fi & America’s Fund is considered one of America’s most trusted and effective charities, routinely earning the highest possible ratings from leading nonprofit watchdogs such as CharityWatch and Charity Navigator; and Whereas the committed volunteers and passionate staff of Semper Fi & America’s Fund have tirelessly worked to deliver a unique care model that provides lifetime support to wounded, injured, and ill members of the Armed Forces, veterans, and military families: Now, therefore, be it
