R. 9507</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240909">September 9, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="P000618">Ms. Porter</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HFA00">Committee on Foreign Affairs</committee-name>, and in addition to the Committee on <committee-name committee-id="HAS00">Armed Services</committee-name>, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To modify the definitions of congressional committees under the Leahy laws.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HC791C5C0C9514459AB0392E1300AF765" style="OLC"><section id="H3C49DC11C17D4BF5B777ACD11E5ADBF1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Expanding Security Assistance Notification Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H99EF53BE4F33475596DD914BEE6D90E0"><enum>2.</enum><header>Modification of definitions of congressional committees under the Leahy laws</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">For purposes of—</text><paragraph id="H20A2E332934142B58D43825B82C8348E"><enum>(1)</enum><text>section 362 of title 10, United States Code, the term <quote>appropriate committees of Congress</quote> shall include the Committee on Oversight and Accountability of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs of the Senate; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H8E57285FF6D74A4E8C8D6CFEDA175607"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">section 620M of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/22/2378d">22 U.S.C. 2378d</external-xref>), the term <quote>appropriate congressional committees</quote> shall include the Committee on Oversight and Accountability of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs of the Senate.</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
