R. 9418</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240827">August 27, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="N000194">Mr. Nickel</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To permit a single application to be submitted to the COPS Director or BJA Director for the matching grant program for school security.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HF98F8E59C36A483B95003C3FC98E3D93" style="OLC"><section id="H52E2B18FF62A40E486B08ADEC2C71C7B" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Single Application for School Safety Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>SASS Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="H52E0128492BA481A9FDD0E86A25ACFE5"><enum>2.</enum><header>Matching grant program for school security application requirement</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 2702 of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/34/10552">34 U.S.C. 10552</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H7DFC7BE349FC44E5BAE2CD407A483AAB" display-inline="no-display-inline"><subsection id="H1132A92C88FB4688AD7132B3D7CB22DB"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Multipurpose applications</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Attorney General shall establish a process under which a single grant application may be submitted for a grant that is authorized to be made by the COPS Director under paragraph (1) of section 2701(a) and the BJA Director under paragraph (2) of such section.</text></subsection><subsection id="H7672E935AEE340009390BE5CE5992338"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Technical assistance</header><text>The COPS Director or the BJA Director, as the case may be, shall provide technical assistance to applicants to complete an application for a grant under this part. </text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
