Short title

This Act may be cited as the Show Me the Science Act.

Rulemaking requirements

Section 553 of title 5, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following: (f)(1)The publication of a rule under subsection (d) shall include the scientific data, incident data, or other pertinent data relied on by the agency to justify the rule, except in the case that the head of the agency—(A)determines, on a nondelegable basis, that publication of such data would impede public safety or security;(B)submits to the Administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (referred to in this subsection as the Administrator) a notification disclosing the reasons for the determination under subparagraph (A); and(C)publishes such notification, consistent with public safety, security, and privacy interests, in the Federal Register.(2)The Administrator shall issue guidance for agencies on compliance with this section and shall monitor such compliance.(3)In this subsection, the term scientific data means recorded factual material that is commonly accepted in the scientific community and is of sufficient quality to validate and replicate research findings..
