R. 9003</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240711">July 11, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="C001135">Mrs. Chavez-DeRemer</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="H001094">Ms. Hoyle of Oregon</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000583">Mr. Gottheimer</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001059">Mr. Costa</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="R000305">Ms. Ross</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HVR00">Committee on Veterans' Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title 38, United States Code, to recognize the Women-Owned Small Business program in the Department of Veterans Affairs procurement hierarchy of small business preferences, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H75B5A4A0B90545CABCE0A0BB271191E4" style="OLC"><section id="H25DBCF7CB4744915AF1CD1661DF18529" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Veterans Affairs Opportunity for Women-Owned Small Businesses Act of 2024</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HAA0C02B213B149549ECA119E68C7108F" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Recognition of women-owned small business program in Department of Veterans Affairs procurement hierarchy of small business preferences</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 8127(h) of title 38, United States Code, is amended—</text><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HA738FFB43BF941ABBE956AC348918D83"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (3)—</text><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H0A9A80A2DCD94DDCBB4D4BA119702509"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in subparagraph (A), by striking <quote>; or</quote> and inserting a semicolon;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H0376A11257484430AC6842BDBAB1C021"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in subparagraph (B), by striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>; or</quote>;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H637BFC094DA2451194E17DB66F3AEDD0"><enum>(C)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new subparagraph:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HF10986093E7242A189A86ACCFEB7E9EF"><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H3834BBDB748B44F5B1D6A5D63B30D58F" indent="up1"><enum>(C)</enum><text>section 8(m) of the Small Business Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/637">15 U.S.C. 637(m)</external-xref>).</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>; and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H62B6E4A9E746481FB4D416C324101FCA"><enum>(D)</enum><text>by redesignating subparagraphs (A) through (C) as clauses (i) through (iii), respectively;</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HE6D0815683A34BA790A1E59A41CA7F58"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by redesignating paragraphs (1) through (4) as subparagraphs (A) through (D), respectively;</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H60AD5A0BCD3E4C399EA8FA147305FF1E"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in the matter before subparagraph (A), as redesignated by paragraph (2), by inserting <quote>(1)</quote> before <quote>Preferences for</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HF2AF57E0CE8344F4BA8F40C51E1DFA33"><enum>(4)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new paragraph (2):</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H4DDD35C6ED03441ABB09EFAC906FC1B4"><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H7203D156937B4A04819706D6DB17DE9A" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>All preferences described in subparagraph (C) of paragraph (1) shall be afforded the same degree of priority under such paragraph.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
