R. 8970</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240709">July 9, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="M001221">Mr. Molinaro</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="D000632">Mr. D'Esposito</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001196">Ms. Stefanik</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="W000828">Mr. Williams of New York</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="L000599">Mr. Lawler</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="L000600">Mr. Langworthy</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To direct the Secretary of Homeland Security to establish a publicly available database that includes information regarding aliens without lawful status in the United States who have been convicted of felonies.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H3C71371D71D442AA9CD1A30BC5AF34A6" style="OLC"><section id="HB7EA0BF78DD84636B707BE545238B653" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Illegal Offender Registry Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="H7DBD5D6CAA33487DA34304A097589C06"><enum>2.</enum><header>Database of information regarding aliens without lawful status who have been convicted of felonies</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall establish a database that is publicly available on the website of the Department of Homeland Security that includes, for each alien without lawful status in the United States under the immigration laws (as such term is defined in section 101 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1101">8 U.S.C. 1101</external-xref>)) who is physically present in the United States, and has been convicted of a felony in the United States, the following information:</text><paragraph id="H44E50A914A4940BF800C79C33568737A"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The locality in which the alien resides.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H33BFB4BD3DF3451D853B1BE1BF666BD5"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The alien’s name.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HE468085E262A4E55936AC0677BE88931"><enum>(3)</enum><text>The crime for which the alien was convicted. </text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
