R. 8780</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240618">June 18, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="G000599">Mr. Goldman of New York</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="G000585">Mr. Gomez</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HED00">Committee on Education and the Workforce</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To direct the Attorney General to authorize the youth gun violence prevention program.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H4CB979A1C52045C5A749EC4E9C5D3A7B" style="OLC"><section id="H23F92661284D485784BF3DB983F3B376" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Prioritizing Resources for Outreach, Safety, Violence Prevention, Youth Empowerment and Resilience Act of 2024</short-title></quote> or the <quote>PROSPER Act of 2024</quote>. </text></section><section id="HCB0C4DBC830842E7B872109ABD9570D5"><enum>2.</enum><header>Authorization of Youth Gun Violence Prevention Program</header><subsection id="H64041AB038354C00881A8E892C2E7342"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Attorney General is authorized to carry out a program for youth gun violence prevention. </text></subsection><subsection id="HFD50D6F9DD474F36A7C4807AF3938BA1"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Authorization of appropriations</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Of the amounts otherwise appropriated for each of fiscal year 2025 though fiscal year 2030, for juvenile justice programs—</text><paragraph id="HC86CC5F67EF8491EBF60D52155FDF751"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">$100,000,000 shall be made available for grants under title V of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974 (34 U.S.C. note et seq.); and </text></paragraph><paragraph id="H82F42B3B99A84CC287FAF8440477EE8C"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">$25,000,000 of the amount under paragraph (1) shall be made available to carry out a program for youth gun violence prevention. </text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
