R. 8291</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240508">May 8, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="T000478">Ms. Tenney</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HWM00">Committee on Ways and Means</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to prohibit certain tax-exempt organizations from providing funding for election administration.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H889D06CBEA154BACB18E3A8B8152D824" style="OLC"><section id="H847D51CF17FE4069B587F1F5535CE787" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>End Zuckerbucks Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H7FFFEFDA9F844F2AAE86FE02844E5B28"><enum>2.</enum><header>501(<enum-in-header>c</enum-in-header>)(3) organizations prohibited from providing direct or indirect funding for election administration</header><subsection id="H7FE462F677114A4FBCC4C0D7159EE706"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/26/501">Section 501(c)(3)</external-xref> of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended—</text><paragraph id="H32E3D58788764DD3A5A89063C8ED9964"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>and which does not participate</quote> and inserting <quote>which does not participate</quote>, and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H9842285EA4764D3A94DD8DD3DCFF426C"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>and which does not provide direct funding to any State or unit of local government for the purpose of the administration of elections for public office or any funding to any State or unit of local government in a case in which it is reasonable to expect such funding will be used for the purpose of the administration of elections for public office (except with respect to the donation of space to a State or unit of local government to be used as a polling place in an election for public office).</quote>.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H57B9A541F7E7424B91A0A0FD38DDA52B"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendments made by this subsection shall apply to taxable years beginning after December 31, 2024. </text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
