<section id="H1E17751D80D14990A72100A47B9E0D8C" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Uterine Fibroid Intervention and Gynecological Health Treatment Act of 2024</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="HEB02AEE8EAFB474DBFDB5BFF88AF0214"><enum>2.</enum><header>Research on uterine fibroid early detection and intervention</header> <subsection id="H53ECA78737534C3CBC03068A040865FC"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Health and Human Services (in this Act referred to as the <quote>Secretary</quote>) shall—</text> 
<paragraph id="H97BDA8537C004BFFA33475B8A8ABC6C7"><enum>(1)</enum><text>conduct or support research on increasing early detection of, and intervention for, uterine fibroids; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H61E9836068B1454D903882D12AB6EBC8"><enum>(2)</enum><text>based on the results of such research and other relevant information, formulate evidence-based or evidence-informed strategies to increase early detection in health care settings.</text></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="H92C97176E3A54744A2EC36888AA09C6B"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Timeline</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary shall finalize the evidence-based or evidence-informed strategies required by subsection (a)(2) as expeditiously as possible in order to make such strategies available to grantees under section 3 to implement such strategies pursuant to section 3(b)(3).</text></subsection></section> <section id="H5E163A124A6D4123B26434E384D52AF6"><enum>3.</enum><header>Grants with respect to uterine fibroid early detection and intervention</header> <subsection id="H7EEACDB5D0974FA0B7F4CAAF1868AA79"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Health and Human Services (in this Act referred to as the <quote>Secretary</quote>) may award grants to States for carrying out programs—</text> 
<paragraph id="HE4E392719B9E4705B1963CBA666A9B6E"><enum>(1)</enum><text>to increase early detection of and intervention for uterine fibroids; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H61B0FAEB040541B187F8346C5EAB1481"><enum>(2)</enum><text>to develop and implement public awareness and education campaigns for the early detection and intervention of uterine fibroids.</text></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="H9025E26ED53945D98F6720E045284FE9"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Use of funds</header><text>A State receiving a grant under this section may use the grant, with respect to increasing early detection of and intervention for uterine fibroids, for the following activities:</text> <paragraph id="HDDB43EF9478D4F4C8BD92D5785F533FA"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Screening procedures, including advanced gynecological imaging (including payment therefor).</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H87FFAA7496F34DC68B45ED754A83E5C2"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Patient navigation services.</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HB5537C664B2D4371BE73BB93AEE5E453"><enum>(3)</enum><text>Implementation of evidence-based or evidence-informed strategies proven to increase early detection in health care settings.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HA702CE75D49C48E6B4595FA711134730"><enum>(4)</enum><text>Facilitating access to health care settings.</text></paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="HFE0805FE24A141A5B03628B252856ED2"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Priority</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In awarding grants under this section, the Secretary shall give priority to States proposing to carry out a program in a geographic areas in which there are socially vulnerable populations with elevated risk of uterine fibroid development.</text> </subsection> </section> 
<section id="H9A3663D1AB9E4F7D9A7DFEF9B8741B04"><enum>4.</enum><header>Research with respect to uterine fibroid early detection and intervention</header> <text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Secretary may award grants to conduct research, which may include clinical trials, related to—</text> <paragraph id="H33971D8CA40846B1A2D69C49F2E8089B"><enum>(1)</enum><text>disparities in pain control and management in uterine fibroid surgical treatment; or</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H14119A2CB0644C50AD0D239A32338883"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Asherman’s Syndrome, intrauterine adhesions, and other intrauterine conditions as determined appropriate by the Secretary.</text></paragraph></section> <section id="H272B5E97ACF243799068CC8EB945F624"><enum>5.</enum><header>Reports to Congress</header> <subsection id="H63BCB9C4B7CB46999CE416B3E07FF316"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Reports on grants</header><text>Not later 2 years after the initial award of grants under this Act, and every 2 years thereafter, the Secretary shall submit to the Congress, and make publicly available on the appropriate website of the Department of Health and Human Services, a report summarizing the findings and results of programs and activities funded through grants under this Act.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H69C6A1395BD446BEB1A89EA51DB0F901"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Report on research developments</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 2 years after the date of enactment of this Act, and every 2 years thereafter, the Secretary shall submit to the Congress, and make publicly available on the appropriate website of the Department of Health and Human Services, a report outlining research developments and findings related to—</text> <paragraph id="HDE530D23EBEA45A6A0EBE9B8D06854FE"><enum>(2)</enum><text>disparities in pain control and management in uterine fibroid surgical treatment; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H278A03072D744CE89C7861EF436C607E"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Asherman’s Syndrome, intrauterine adhesions, and other intrauterine conditions as determined appropriate by the Secretary.</text></paragraph></subsection></section> </legis-body></bill>
