R. 8155</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240429">April 29, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="N000189">Mr. Newhouse</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="F000469">Mr. Fulcher</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="Z000018">Mr. Zinke</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="B000668">Mr. Bentz</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HII00">Committee on Natural Resources</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To direct the Secretary of Energy to develop fish and wildlife program funding alternatives to mitigate the cost to Bonneville Power Administration ratepayers, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H310030A309614859BE59218CD8747C2A" style="OLC"><section id="HA8B5DDB536074619B1ADE2EAC091A3F4" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Ratepayer Funding Alternative Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HE2C9907CEA62474DA701E95660DB463A"><enum>2.</enum><header>Fish and wildlife program funding alternatives</header><subsection id="HE2D7530D3B18467B958E821B621AC73D"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Energy, in consultation with the heads of other relevant Federal agencies, shall develop, with respect to the fish and wildlife program of the Bonneville Power Administration, alternative funding options that do not pass the expense of the program on to the power and transmission service customers of the Bonneville Power Administration.</text></subsection><subsection id="H85466215FB7E4580832D8A473185E8F7"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Report</header><text>Not later than 6 months after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Energy shall submit to each of the Committees on Appropriations for the House of Representatives and the Senate a report that describes the alternative funding options developed under subsection (a). </text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
