R. 7843</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240329">March 29, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="M001219">Mr. Moylan</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="G000593">Mr. Gimenez</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="V000131">Mr. Veasey</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HAS00">Committee on Armed Services</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To direct the Secretary of Defense to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the United States Environmental Protection Agency and Guam Environmental Protection Agency to conduct necessary environmental inspections at military instillations in Guam.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HE46F543A48F643218B51FAF04457DD3D"><section id="HFE80E968E7654F5AABBC4D95140D24F2" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be referred to as the <quote><short-title>Guam EPA Cooperation Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H91F75EFDA5094DEC8766DA61541D34A4"><enum>2.</enum><header>Authority to enter into Memorandum Of Understanding with the Environmental Protection Agency</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Secretary of Defense may enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to provide technical assistance and carry out both federally and locally required environmental inspections for military construction projects in the territory of Guam. Such memorandum of understanding may include or be carried out in consultation with the Guam Environmental Protection Agency. The Department of Defense may compensate the U.S. EPA for activities carried out pursuant to such memorandum of understanding.</text></section></legis-body></bill>
