R. 7689</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240315">March 15, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="C001119">Ms. Craig</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="M000194">Ms. Mace</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001225">Mr. Sorensen</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="K000394">Mr. Kim of New Jersey</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title 18, United State Code, to amend the definition of <quote>official act</quote> for purposes of the prohibition of bribery.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HD01F581F8A234237B4C2D97BA0E6832B" style="OLC"><section id="H6E3A8A0E1AF84994BE7F2B1D97C8477B" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Gifts for Officials, Legislators and Delegate (GOLD) Standard Act of 2024</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H421EB73594554168A2C1D76A453600A5"><enum>2.</enum><header>Official act defined</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 201(a) of title 18, United States Code, is amended by striking paragraph (3) and inserting the following: </text><quoted-block style="USC" id="H095B8A0DCB894E66B8A7FE13245D82CB" display-inline="no-display-inline"><paragraph id="HD32D854B6A924F4DA606E75F0333B222"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the term <quote>official act</quote> means any decision, action, approval, disapproval, recommendation, rendering of advice, or investigation on any question, matter, cause, suit, proceeding or controversy, which may at any time be pending, or which may by law be brought before any public official, in such official’s official capacity, or in such official’s place of trust or profit.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
