R. 7182</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240201">February 1, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="L000603">Mr. Luttrell</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="F000459">Mr. Fleischmann</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="E000246">Mr. Edwards</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B001291">Mr. Babin</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000591">Mr. Guest</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001129">Mr. Collins</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="W000828">Mr. Williams of New York</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HAS00">Committee on Armed Services</committee-name>, and in addition to the Committee on <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">the Judiciary</committee-name>, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To authorize the National Guard to take such actions as may be necessary to repel persons attempting to enter the United States from Mexico who are carrying weapons, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H4BF14B34FD4B46828C12421FBE1E2A7B" style="OLC"><section id="H7FB08A6387374D0082F03EA0F3D99C9E" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Defend Our Borders From Armed Invaders Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="H86F08EE90A6E4219BB79732C8F7411B9"><enum>2.</enum><header>Authority of National Guard to repel persons attempting to enter the United States from Mexico who are carrying weapons</header><subsection id="H5E6253EF23CA41A8849127243F3BE850"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Authority</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 502(f)(2) of title 32, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new subparagraph:</text><quoted-block style="USC" id="H8B9D9C6DC48E4861A799F265017CFCD4" display-inline="no-display-inline"><subparagraph id="H9FD38D607D24467DA7A8A4B6392AA25F" indent="up1"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Notwithstanding section 1385 of title 18, such actions as may be necessary to repel any person who is—</text><clause id="H4AFCB98CF6204AF7A968BD51ADFC8A88"><enum>(i)</enum><text>attempting to enter the United States by land across the border between the United States and Mexico; and</text></clause><clause id="H4FE0DC8E00F345CB8720FFA2EACE544A"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>clearly carrying a weapon. </text></clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
