R. 7177</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240131">January 31, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S001220">Mr. Strong</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="A000055">Mr. Aderholt</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="R000575">Mr. Rogers of Alabama</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001212">Mr. Moore of Alabama</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="C001054">Mr. Carl</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title 28, United States Code, to consolidate certain divisions in the Northern District of Alabama.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H2E4422D8950B46418D4ECAC2CF322576" style="OLC"><section id="HA56BE66B77A54EEC85DD7D758B7B81D8" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Consolidation of certain divisions in the Northern District of Alabama</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 81(a) of title 28, United States Code, is amended—</text><paragraph id="H655B9D444A3C46F5B0F687E5D13BBBFC"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in the matter preceding paragraph (1), by striking <quote>seven</quote> and inserting <quote>five</quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HA49D271D41874362B17EF20FF4685E17"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (1), by striking <quote>and Lauderdale</quote> and inserting <quote>Lauderdale, and Lawerence</quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H4F805EE2BFB24D7BBB8F8713827C8046"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in paragraph (2)—</text><subparagraph id="H566D9204BF6B46F8BA98649DC8CE8D60"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by striking <quote>Lawrence,</quote>; </text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H6065BDA4856A46B09641241DBC791ABA"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by inserting after <quote>Madison,</quote> the following: <quote>Marshall,</quote>; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H149898805BBD4DB8A92E2F7D8DF4FD49"><enum>(C)</enum><text>by striking <quote>and Decatur</quote>;</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="HDEFF259DDA8C4541B18380E9217E8273"><enum>(4)</enum><text>in paragraph (4), by striking <quote>Clay, Cleburne,</quote> and inserting <quote>Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, DeKalb, Etowah, Saint Clair,</quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H9256597BAB7A41A5AE817787C3E3EF70"><enum>(5)</enum><text>in paragraph (5), by striking <quote>Greene, Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa</quote> and inserting <quote>Fayette, Greene, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, Walker, and Winston</quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HABA2B5665A6E40BFA488A6902AAE53CE"><enum>(6)</enum><text>by striking paragraph (6); and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H3C7F46FB889E4216A37638D22FCFB0F2"><enum>(7)</enum><text>by striking paragraph (7).</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
