R. 6989</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240112">January 12, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="G000595">Mr. Good of Virginia</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HII00">Committee on Natural Resources</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend an Act of Congress approved June 8, 1940, with respect to emergency permits for rights-of-way, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H65C05284DFAF4F7583EDC54D9F4A812A" style="OLC"><section id="H509C0CA933B046C5BCE8C8219C776466" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Blue Ridge Fire Safety Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H7D6A9A71702C405FB8748765C997BD6E" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Licenses or permits to owners of adjacent lands</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 2 of the Act of Congress approved June 8, 1940, entitled <quote>To amend the Act of June 30, 1936 (49 Stat. 2041), providing for the administration and maintenance of the Blue Ridge Parkway, in the States of Virginia and North Carolina, by the Secretary of the Interior, and for other purposes.</quote> is amended—</text><paragraph id="HC5B9E95FA87B41CE97F1F83A7A5B0DE3"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>may issue</quote> and inserting the following: </text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="HBE921C97F12D4DA68FDBAD6F95E75D47" display-inline="no-display-inline"><paragraph id="H038EFE907E8D4FFA80A738525264FBA4"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">may issue</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>; and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph><paragraph id="H9BE4A8D4B85E46C1B8B0E5ED354E9138"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following: </text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H3A6AA9A985B6417BA9BB9C39D0DFD2C1" display-inline="no-display-inline"><paragraph id="H5C53F91B8EB243C983F963A7892EA226"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">shall issue at least 1 emergency permit for emergency use.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
