R. 10399</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20241212">December 12, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="M001215">Mrs. Miller-Meeks</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HPW00">Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 to direct the President to end financial assistance for funeral expenses related to the COVID–19 pandemic.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H4535293BCF28421AB7CA382B3973D0A7" style="OLC"><section id="HECA70551202C46C4B7674AF53EF81489" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Ending financial assistance for funeral expenses related to COVID-19 pandemic</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 4006(a) of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/5174">42 U.S.C. 5174</external-xref> note) is amended to read as follows:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="HA2EE2D2B536C494CAC59132B0800FAE4" display-inline="no-display-inline"><subsection id="H70A6292CBE5942A6A2CB7B387C901953"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Emergency declarations</header><paragraph id="HC6A8EE0323D0460D8B17B6D3BD40F151"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Except as provided in paragraph (2), if the President issues an emergency declaration pursuant to section 501(b) of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/5191">42 U.S.C. 5191(b)</external-xref>), the President shall provide financial assistance to an individual or household to meet such emergency-related funeral expenses under section 408(e) of such Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/5174">42 U.S.C. 5174(e)</external-xref>), for which the Federal cost share shall be 100 percent.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HAAD06F14D4FF4081AE33DF37BEA0F2B6"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Exception</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Under paragraph (1), the President may not provide financial assistance to an individual or household to meet funeral expenses related to the emergency declaration issued by the President on March 13, 2020 (commonly referred to as the <quote>COVID–19 Emergency Declaration</quote>).</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>. </after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
