R. 10217</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20241121">November 21, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="H001096">Ms. Hageman</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="H001095">Mr. Hunt</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000565">Mr. Gosar</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="M001212">Mr. Moore of Alabama</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To require all aliens applying for a nonimmigrant visa who are unlawfully present in the United States to submit to an in person interview with a consular officer.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H2F413A7128CD4689A215915457549D8B" style="OLC"><section id="H43604DD6F7AB494BA41C35364B86CBEC" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Visa Integrity Preservation Act of 2024</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section section-type="subsequent-section" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HF633C1CD6EB8400DA609848F94F00516"><enum>2.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">In person interview with consular officer requirement for aliens who are unlawfully present in the United States</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 222(h)(2) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1202">8 U.S.C. 1202(h)(2)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H307338558945413187A515F93A99FA5F"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subparagraph (E)(iv), by striking <quote>or</quote> at the end;</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H0040C628E35A4E2F83A3FB6EC67A04CE"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subparagraph (F)(iii), by striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>; or</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H6DB2946DC6BA4BC087174DA663B122A5"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HE94BD539F75D474A9C17F56B606C7E9B"><subparagraph id="H940FDA70A1DF4AA990403DDFC7D39995"><enum>(G)</enum><text>is inadmissible under paragraph (6) or (9) of section 212(a).</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
