R. 10185</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20241120">November 20, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="L000560">Mr. Larsen of Washington</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="K000394">Mr. Kim of New Jersey</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HAS00">Committee on Armed Services</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To provide authority to contribute to the NATO Innovation Fund.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H7B10858F25C343DBB07B35929D3ACD75" style="OLC"><section id="H4B4886C5735E40C7B686261E9D1DE083" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Authority to contribute to innovation fund</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Subchapter II of <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/10/138">chapter 138</external-xref> of title 10, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new section:</text><quoted-block style="USC" id="H18166B703A714577B610F3C2A1EBBBF2" display-inline="no-display-inline"><section id="HB5A5475ED26D44308E7D22DD7A9263A4"><enum>2350s.</enum><header>Authority to contribute to innovation fund</header><subsection id="H772DF0C7951B4814A78296BDC8B44A32"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Authority To contribute to nato innovation fund</header><text>Within amounts authorized by law for such purpose during the 10-year period following the date of the enactment of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025, the Secretary of Defense may contribute to the NATO Innovation Fund a total amount of no more than $200,000,000.</text></subsection><subsection id="H1AF6FDF801544694A1C74CA319BBFDE2"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section:</text><paragraph id="H716D210177BC40EA86132B8F53224C60"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The term <term>NATO</term> means the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HF7F1DEFC4A7F43D09504C263688E1A32"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The term <term>NATO Innovation Fund</term> means the multi-sovereign, investment venture capital fund of NATO that provides secure investment in dual-use, high-impact technology.</text></paragraph></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
