R. 10062</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20241029">October 29, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="B001302">Mr. Biggs</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="O000175">Mr. Ogles</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001132">Mr. Crane</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B001316">Mr. Burlison</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="G000565">Mr. Gosar</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HGO00">Committee on Oversight and Accountability</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title 29, District of Columbia Official Code, to treat meetings held with officials of the Federal Government which are held in the District of Columbia as activities not constituting doing business in the District of Columbia for purposes of determining whether organizations are required to register with the District of Columbia.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H30751D6AFED34D89980555698403B2BB" style="OLC"><section id="HF888E46A57CC4560B7AA02AA73ED141B" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Freedom to Petition the Government Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HFD568BEE89DC44558D6E2958A72D0761"><enum>2.</enum><header>Treatment of meetings between nonprofit organizations and Federal officials as activities not constituting doing business in District of Columbia</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 29–105.05(a), District of Columbia Official Code, is amended—</text><paragraph id="H32E2D8269FEB44788ED719BD34123594"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end of paragraph (9);</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H1330C5D4DB17406AA3EEE20E39BA8CEF"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking the period at the end of paragraph (10) and inserting <quote>; and</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HEB3C687F475A402282652E027BCFED37"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text><quoted-block style="traditional" id="H39F8811AF57B44B8AA7E921145D3435A" display-inline="no-display-inline"><paragraph id="HB68A4BDC759E4B2E8B14B983E816FAB1"><enum>(11)</enum><text>Holding meetings with Members of Congress or other officers, employees, or representatives of the Federal Government.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
