RES. 210</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240927">September 27, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="P000048">Mr. Pfluger</sponsor> submitted the following joint resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>JOINT RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to prohibit persons who are not citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents of the United States from voting in elections.</official-title></form><resolution-body style="constitutional-amendment" id="HC322992FA4424F1E80630AA6CD2D3290"><section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="H9569E355222C4136A3EE36001BC86171"><text>That the following article is proposed as an amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which shall be valid to all intents and purposes as part of the Constitution when ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years after the date of its submission for ratification:</text><quoted-block style="traditional" id="HA93CC122EDAA4652886C6A16231A3EB4" display-inline="no-display-inline"><constitution-article id="H1234"><enum> —</enum><section id="H81088A0007254530AB8D413DA0672F60" section-type="undesignated-section"></section><section id="HE2F2551FB4034166BCB3A0F617CEA095" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A person who is not a person lawfully accorded the privilege of residing permanently in the United States, a person owing permanent allegiance to the United States, or a citizen of the United States may not vote in any election for Federal, State, Tribal, or local office, including offices in the District of Columbia or in any of the territories or possessions of the United States.</text></section><section id="HBFD023DA32F843E4A41EB41F005C55A9" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.</text></section></constitution-article><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></resolution-body></resolution>
