Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006, and require FAFSA applications to include a career and technical education acknowledgment.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H0CBBFEB1D9204F2D8147D4E2CF3AC183" style="OLC"> 
<section id="H12023712BD784AFEB2A0426B413D2628" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>CTE Awareness Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="HF03B137510884DE7AFE97D50DF5F5DC3"><enum>2.</enum><header>Disclosure on Department of Education website</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Secretary of Education (acting through the Office of Federal Student Aid) shall—</text>
<paragraph id="HAF77B1004F2B4ECC958A89B06C7C0DB4"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">not later than 60 days after the date of enactment of this Act, publish on the public website of the Office of Federal Student Aid of the Department of Education information on—</text> <subparagraph id="H70B79060E6E7459DBB3676B5C0187F3A"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">career and technical education programs, including average completion time, program cost, and post-graduation employment rate; and</text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H222452DAADB147ABBD8A4C1F91172697"><enum>(B)</enum><text>opportunities in each State—</text> <clause id="HB2DF885CCCC9442594BC2963DC251744"><enum>(i)</enum><text>to pursue such programs; and</text></clause>
<clause id="H5BDF8BA397F04E2A90FF3EA7FC2E97C2"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>for funding to pursue such programs under the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/2301">20 U.S.C. 2301 et seq.</external-xref>); and</text></clause></subparagraph></paragraph> <paragraph id="H73BC26264357489EBBB04AE3A6C90CEF"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">continuously update and maintain the information published under paragraph (1) to ensure that such information continues to be relevant.</text></paragraph></section>
<section id="H2A99416D47E542868EB4BCEC40B34C66"><enum>3.</enum><header>Disclosure on FAFSA application</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 494(a)(1)(A) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/1098h">20 U.S.C. 1098h(a)(1)(A)</external-xref>) is amended—</text> <paragraph id="H5058DC3CA7AC43E8B942E83AE83BAF7C"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in clause (i)(II), by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end; and</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="HC2958C0956B645FAB00DC3F4BA1672AC"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text> <quoted-block style="OLC" id="HA840CB0068164751BE5213667AB28882" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <clause id="H23086FDA540045C8AE4AE760A80814E9"><enum>(iii)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">career and technical education programs (as defined in section 3 of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/2302">20 U.S.C. 2302</external-xref>)) are a viable alternative to a 4-year degree, and include, to ensure such individuals are made aware of such programs and related career paths at the beginning of the application—</text>
<subclause id="HC24AFABB8AD14A8F80E7C3440DF96B9B"><enum>(I)</enum><text>a one-page summary of the most recent information provided under section 2(1) of the <short-title>CTE Awareness Act</short-title>; and</text></subclause> <subclause id="H15CEF714EF684CA4833E71BD35049EC0"><enum>(II)</enum><text>an acknowledgment signature box; and</text></subclause></clause><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section>
<section id="H81BF7E19CF364E6BBE21407F46764449"><enum>4.</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The terms <term>career and technical education</term> and <term>State</term> have the meanings given the terms in section 3 of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/2302">20 U.S.C. 2302</external-xref>).</text></section> </legis-body></bill>
